Because It Works on the Nerve That Carries the Signal — Right Where It Surfaces
The trigeminal nerve is the head's main sensory nerve, and during an attack it is the pathway the migraine signal travels along. Two of its branches, the supraorbital and supratrochlear nerves, come to the surface just above each eyebrow. Frost Labs One is a slim 130 mm pad with a gel zone over each of those branches, and a small pod that sends gentle, precisely shaped pulses through the skin directly into the nerve. We stimulate the nerve that is the source of a migraine. That is the whole design.
What you feel is a firm, fizzy tingling across the forehead — unusual for about a minute, then familiar; many of my patients describe it as pleasant. While the session runs, the pain fades into the background. Over weeks of daily use, the pathway becomes less easily triggered. I will come back to that in Reason 2.
You may have read that forehead devices "miss where your migraine lives." Here is the calm version. A compression cap squeezes the outside of the skull, and some people find that pressure soothing. This device is doing a different job: it acts on the nerve signal itself, at the one site where the pathway reaches the surface — the same clinically established site Cefaly uses. And if your attacks start in the neck, as many of my patients' do: the neck's sensory nerves and the trigeminal branches feed into the same relay in the brainstem. That convergence is why the forehead is the established site regardless of where your attack begins.
